The OECD Anti-Corruption Division has an ongoing bilateral project with Greece to help the country implement its National Anti-Corruption Action Plan (NACAP), which includes asset recovery.
As part of this delivery, the OECD has conducted a number of activities, including an in-depth analytical review and assessment of existing gaps in the legislative and regulatory framework, proposals for institutional reform and increased coordination, enhancing international cooperation, and drafting asset recovery guidelines, best practices, and tools that are specifically tailored for Greek practitioners. The asset recovery component consisted of a series of capacity building workshops that included presentations on practices from other countries as well as was international best practices and standards relating to identifying freezing, seizure, and confiscation of illicitly obtained assets, asset sharing agreements and asset repatriation.
